“Songs From the Tall Grass” is about the struggles and the triumphs of breaking the sod in the Midwest. The music tells the story about life and love during a time of the great expansion of our country.
“Songs” was written as a way to ensure that the music during this time of discovery and exploration in America doesn’t go extinct. This production is based on letters and journal entries from the time, and follows a family as they homestead new land.
The production’s music consists of song lyrics originally written in the 1800s, but with contemporary music and arrangements created by Hale.
